Home Gym Assembly in Largo, FL | 162 Washers, 76 Nuts and a 12/10 Pain Rating
Howdy, partner. Every so often a box shows up that makes the whole crew go quiet. This one had the longest name we have ever read off a carton: the Blazzed Fitness All-in-One Cable Crossover Smith Machine & Functional Trainer. It has dual 200 lb weight stacks, lists at around $4,799, and came in more boxes than a moving van. We filmed the whole build. Here is the field note.
The hardware page that should come with a warning label
We counted 162 washers and 76 nuts. M10x45, M10x40, M10x50, and the list keeps going. Almost every bolt is a slightly different size, and getting one wrong does not show up until three steps later, when a part will not line up. That is the hidden cost of a cable machine: most of the time goes into sorting hardware, not lifting steel.
Seven hours on the floor
The uprights alone are a two-person job. Pros should plan on 7 to 10 hours for a machine like this, and a first-timer doing it over a weekend should plan on longer. We worked through it with knee braces on and the manual open the whole time. Then came the moment every DIYer dreads: the shields went on backwards. Nothing to do but take it apart and do it again. We would rather learn that lesson on our time than have you learn it on yours.
The Pain-in-the-Ass Factor: 12 out of 10
We rate every build. This one went off the chart at 12/10. That is not a knock on the machine. Once it is together it is a beast, and it fits a whole commercial gym into one footprint. Getting it there just takes patience, the right tools and a crew that has done it before.
