Here is the war story, and why a home gym is the single hardest assembly in the fitness world.

First off — what is the Pain in the Ass Meter?

Why a home gym is the hardest job in fitness

A full multi-station home gym is the Swiss Army knife of the gym world — and assembling one is about as relaxing as defusing a bomb. Heavy-gauge steel frames that have to be dead square, precision pulley brackets that sometimes need to be taken apart before they will even fit, and cables that thread through a system of pulleys tighter than a rattlesnake in a drainpipe. One bracket backwards and the whole cable path binds up.

Where it goes sideways for the do-it-yourselfer

Miss-align a crossmember and the whole rack is out of square — weight stacks bind and cables track crooked.
