You've got a footing to dig, concrete to pour, a heavy pole to set dead plumb before it cures, and a backboard and arm to hang up in the air — and you get exactly one shot before that concrete goes hard.
Dig the footing and pour it right
The hole has to hit the manufacturer's depth and width, with the anchor kit or J-bolts positioned exactly before the concrete goes in.
Set the pole dead plumb before it cures
The pole or anchor kit has to sit perfectly plumb on every side and stay there while the concrete sets — we brace it and check it with a level from two directions.
Hang the backboard and arm and torque to spec
After the footing cures we mount the arm, square the backboard, and set the rim overhead, torquing every bolt to spec.
